If you want to make a great catch on a composer you should consider what I have to offer you. I feel that as a relatively "unproven" composer I must always do more than I am paid for and exceed expectations, however high.

Chris Young (composer Spider Man 2 and 3, among many other blockbusters), who I studied with at the University of Southern California, says that my work was among the best he had ever heard in the 12 years he has taught at that prestigious university.

I was nominated for and won the 2005 Jerry Goldsmith film scoring award judged by a panel of industry veterans. Despite this recognition of my talent I am still in the early stages of my career. I am trying new things all the time in an effort to make my work stand out as unique and special.

On my most recent film - http://imdb.com/title/tt0855007/ -

I experimented with using the Russian State Film orchestra and we were all blown away by the results.

You can hear it for yourself here:

I combined the awesome power of the Russian symphony with electronics in several cues. The combination really hits home for the modern audience who both expect a certain cinematic sound and are immersed in pop music.

Reference "First Fight Scene" and "Spy Work" for examples of this.

I want you to know that I take my music and your film very seriously. I am extremely diligent in working with you to make the music capture your vision. I follow direction closely and make open communications a priority. Making the scoring experiencing well planned and smooth are among my top goals. I take care of all the details; making art all you need to think about.

as you read through the following frequently asked questions
(or finnish checking your email)

Q: What are you rates?

A: I base my fee on the amount of music needed (in minutes), and how the score is to be produced.

A typical fee would range from $5,000 to $10,000

Q: What are the costs associated with using live orchestra:

A: An all inclusive recording session including studio time, engineers and musicians for 4 hours with full orchestra is $5,000 - $8,000 depending on where we record and the total size of the orchestra. You can typically record 5 minutes of music per hour. I can also arrange for smaller ensembles if it fits the creative needs of the film.

Q: Are there any hidden fees such as orchestration, copying, music editing, mixing, or media costs?

A: No, I do all this myself and don't charge you anything extra for it! (included in the flat composer fee).

Q: How fast can you get the score done?

A: Time from "locked picture" to completed score is usually under one month. Orchestral recording, if planned for well in advance, will add no more than 2 weeks to the time. Planning is of the utmost importance in completing the score in a timely fashion.

Q: Your "orchestral emulations" sound pretty good, is it really worth the extra money for live orchestra?

I would be glad to show you a side by side comparison of the exact same piece played by live musicians vs the computer. I think the difference is quite apparent and a huge improvement.

Orchestra is a luxury that is highly desirable. It adds to the esteem of the project regardless of the subjective quality difference (which I think is significant). In addition, using live orchestra with me at the the helm is a better value in terms of return on your money; I do more work for less money when I get to use live orchestra because I think it is so invaluable to my career.

As mentioned before I don't charge for orchestration, copying, mixing or music editing. The work of a whole team of people, I do for nothing, just so I can participate in the great benefits a live orchestral score provide.

I hope to hear from you soon. Nurture me while I am still in the infancy of my career and I will repay you with great work for years to come.
